Amarillo, Texas - A former Amarillo attorney who failed to file close to 30 years worth of income is sentenced in federal court.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says John Lewis Lesly was sentenced to 38 months in prison and ordered to pay $847,252 in restitution.

Lesly was indicted for this crime in November 2005 and pleaded guilty in April of 2012 to four counts of failure to File Tax Returns.

In October 2005, Lesly fled the USA to Canada and remained a fugitive until he was caught at the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport in February 2012 and taken into custody.

He admitted that he had not filed a federal income tax return since 1976, despite making over a million dollars some years.
