Clovis, NM - After nearly seven years Noe Torres is back in Clovis and in court Wednesday for his arraignment.
He was accused of killing a ten year old Clovis boy in 2005 and fleeing to Mexico.
Noe Torres and his attorney appeared in a Curry County courtroom through video conference this afternoon.
The defendant gave an emotional plea, requesting to be held in the Curry County Detention Center but that motion was denied by District Judge Donna Mowrer.
Torres is instead being transported to the New Mexico Department of Corrections where he will be held without bond.
Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler agreed with the judge's order saying, allowing Torres to stay in Clovis would pose a threat to the community.
He says the arraignment went as expected but there is a long road ahead.
A dozen of the victim's family members were in attendance and tell us they are happy to see Torres behind bars.
The district attorney says they would like to have a jury setting by the end of the year.
