Habitat for Humanity presents homes

Amarillo, TX - Today two area families were given keys to their brand new homes.

It's all part of Amarillo's Habitat for Humanity.

For the past several months both families have worked hard learning how to obtain financial security, responsibilities of a homeowner and how to build a home.

They also had to put in 500 volunteer hours including helping with other projects and their own home.

"On Thursday we went and signed all the mortgage documents, and so they're legally theirs, and transitioned over to them. There's a huge anticipation building up to this day. This is the moment when they get their keys and they get to start moving in as soon as the party's over," said Sasha Renee with Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity helps between four to six families in need each year.
