TxDOT projects boom

Amarillo - There will soon be more road construction coming to the city of Amarillo.

State officials recently approved 1.9-billion dollars in additional transportation funds to communities across the state.

The Amarillo area will receive 11.3-million dollars to fund three new projects.

These projects include rehabilitation of I-40 in Carson county and farmers road between Western and Georgia.

The third project is adding a railroad overpass to the construction already on Southeast loop 335.

The overpass will eliminate the need for a rail-road crossing.

They plan to improve the roadways and make them safer for travelers.

While construction delays can be frustrating remember to slow down in those zones.

The first of these new projects won't start until November.

TxDOT says drivers shouldn't expect more delays from the new construction.
