Update: Train wreck leaves 3 employees dead

Posted: Updated:

Goodwell, OK - The investigation continues into Sunday's deadly train wreck.

Around 10 a.m., two freight trains collided head on along Highway 54 near Guymon.

Brian Stone, Dan Hall and John Hall were found deceased at the scene.

More than a dozen members with the National Transportation Safety Board arrived in Oklahoma late Sunday night to assess the damage.

About 40 firefighters across 10 departments in Texas County responded to the blaze.

Guymon Fire Chief Clark Purdy says the majority of the flames were extinguished by midnight.

The highway was closed between Goodwell and Guymon while emergency management officials began cleaning up the mess.

This morning, one lane in each direction was re-opened to motorists' traveling in and out of Guymon.

The NTSB is expected to release a preliminary report on the accident in 10 days.

A full comprehensive report could take up to a year to complete.
