Canyon. TX - Today families in Canyon had a day filled with fun while learning at the same time.
Family Fun Day began at nine this morning at Southeast Park.
There was a schedule of events, including a fishing tournament, children's concert and grand opening of a dog park.
Families were also educated about the importance of reading.
"The summer reading program is an event every summer where we encourage the community to read with us especially students because they can improve their reading level and return to school at a superior reading level," said Noreen Taylor, co-director of the Canyon Area Library.
All proceeds from this event go to the Tex Randall project, which is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2013.
