Two suspects arrested in Amarillo home invasion

AMARILLO, TX - Police arrested two suspects in connection with Friday's home invasion.

Jessica Medina, 26, and Timothy Francisco Lopez, 29, are booked into the Randall Co. Jail for murder.

Around 12:30 p.m., Amarillo Police responded to a home invasion call on Highland St.

A caller reported seeing two masked men trying to steal a safe out of a backyard office.

When the resident confronted the robbers, one of the suspects pulled out what he believed was a gun.

The resident then pulled out his gun and fired, striking 26-year-old Gabriel Castillo in the hip.

Minutes later, police were dispatched to Rule St. on a man who had been shot.

Upon arrival, police found Castillo dead in the driveway at a home located at 2403 Rule St.

The resident who shot the suspect has not been charged with any crime.

Amarillo Police and special crimes continue to investigate this case.
