Little girl in our area on a mission to help children in need

Amarillo, TX - A little girl's mission to help children in need is coming true.

Taylor Hathcock is only 9 years old but she's working hard to put together a picnic that will benefit several kids that go to Will Rogers Elementary.

It's called Together. Always. Outstanding. Summer.

"This summer some kids are writing articles about how they're going hungry and the school's not there able to support them this summer, so we're just trying to do our best to help them and give them food and meet their needs," says Taylor Hathcock, organizer.

Ten families have been selected to receive items varying from food to clothing.

Taylor has received tons of support from the community.

Her and volunteers helping organize this picnic would love to get more donations.

They can be dropped off at 8406 Taos Dr.

"I have been going to see who wanted to help out the community by giving to these families that are in need. We're trying to fill the gaps in-between. There are amazing food shelters out there but there's gaps that need to be filled so we're trying to fill those gaps for them," says Christen Parker, volunteer.

You can also help by purchasing a raffle ticket which is five dollars, the money will go toward providing these families with essential items.

You can also purchase raffle tickets at 8406 Taos Dr.

To find out more about how you can help make a donation, call Taylor Hathcock's mother Leslie-Ann at 806-236-2390.

Taylor and the volunteers are also looking for businesses who will allow them to sell raffle tickets in front. If you're interested call April Langford at 806-231-3201.
