Man sentenced for Amarillo motel robbery

Amarillo, Texas - Lorenzo Timothy Alonzo is sentenced to 50 years in prison for robbing an Amarillo motel.

The 47th District Attorney's Office says Alonzo robbed the Sleep Inn Motel on I-40 east in May of 2012.

They say he then forced his then-girlfriend to drive him to New Mexico. They say he threatened to kill her if she did not comply and that he forced her dig her own grave.

He was arrested in New Mexico and brought back to Potter County where he confessed to the robbery. They say he also confessed to robbing a motel in Dumas.
