Al-Qaeda's no. 2 in Afghanistan Killed

Officials say al-Qaeda's second highest leader in Afghanistan is dead following a NATO air strike.

They add Sakhr al-Taifi, a.k.a. Mushtaq and Nasim, was responsible for commanding all foreign insurgents in the country as well as directing attacks on NATO and Afghan troops.

Al-Taifi was reported to travel often between Afghanistan and Pakistan, where most of the organization's leaders fled to following the U.S. invasion.

Officials say the purpose of these trips was to ensure commands from senior al-Qaeda members were carried out as well as bringing in weapons and fighters into Afghanistan.
