Assassination campaign linked to Iran

American and Middle Eastern officials are saying an entire string assassination plots against diplomats from several different countries, including the U.S., have all been linked back to Iran.

The country of Azerbaijan arrested almost two dozen people earlier this year in connection with the 13-month long case carried out by Iran-supported Hezbollah members or militants working from inside Iran.

And officials weren't the only targets.

Authorities say Balagardash Dashdev, an Azerbaijani national associated with Iran-based militants moved weapons and money into Azerbaijan in a "jumble of overlapping plans" "that targeted both Azerbaijani Jews and specific diplomats."

Iran is officially denying any involvement with the effort.
