Amarillo, TX - One man is running from California to Washington D.C. to raise awareness for veterans across the country.
And he's made a stop this holiday weekend in Amarillo.
This is all part of a national fundraising campaign, Operation Amerithon, which supports a veterans charity called the Travis Manion Foundation.
The purpose of the foundation is to keep the spirit of leadership and sacrifice of our service men and women alive. Their motto is, "Honor the fallen by challenging the living."
"I don't think the mission can stop when they get home," Albie Masland said. "We have to be working with them, with all the post-traumatic stress and the new medical issues that have come to light in the last ten years, we can't just drop the issue. We have to continue to fight to support them."
Masland has already been running for nearly 70 days and he expects to complete the mission in early August.
