Two home invasion robberies within 15 minutes: One suspect stabbed

AMARILLO- Two connected robberies happening within minutes of each other ends with three suspects behind bars and another in the hospital.

According to Amarillo Police, at 11:31 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to a home on South Mississippi St. in the San Jacinto neighborhood on a reported robbery.

According to one of the female victims, she and a few friends were walking to their car when two suspects approached them and demanded cash.

When the girls refused, one of the suspects pulled out a gun.

"He points a weapon at one of the females and pulls the trigger," Corporal Jerry Neufeld with the Amarillo Police Department said. "The gun just clicked."

It is unclear whether the gun was loaded and malfunctioned.

However, Neufeld says when the gun was recovered, no bullets were found inside.

"It happened so fast we didn't even know what was happening," one of the victims who wishes to remain anonymous said. "At first we thought it was a joke."

When the gun didn't fire, we're told the man pistol whipped two of the girls before fleeing.

As officers arrived on scene, police received another 9-1-1 call at 11:41 p.m. on a reported armed robbery at a home on the 800 block of Maryland St.

Amarillo Police say two men approached three people sitting outside their house.

Again, one of the men pulled a gun and demanded cash.

This time, one of the homeowners took out a knife and stabbed one of the suspects.

The following individuals were arrested and booked into the Potter Co. Jail for armed robbery:

Cordrey Dewayn Torres, 17

Seth Alexander Rawle, 17

Kayle Lurain Smith, 20

The juvenile suspect who was stabbed is recovering at a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
