Suspect in custody after high speed chase

Amarillo, TX - An Oklahoma man has been booked into the Randall County jail following a high speed chase throughout southwest Amarillo.

33-year-old Chad Carpenter of Glenpool, Oklahoma has been booked on preliminary charges of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading and resisting arrest among other charges.

Amarillo police say the chase began when Carpenter pointed a handgun at another person on a motorcycle around 9:00 Monday night.

A resulting high speed chase involving officers included spikes at Hillside and Soncy.

The suspect stopped west of Bell where police eventually tasered him and took him into custody.
