Amarillo, TX - Former President George W. Bush along with twenty wounded service men and women celebrated the meaning of the Warrior 100k bike ride in Palo Duro Canyon.
The former President spoke about the importance of showing support to our military once they come back home, especially since they have been hurt emotionally as well as physically.
Many of the military personnel we met this afternoon have severed limbs and some suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Everyone involved with the Warrior 100K say this experience is a testament to how they've all overcome traumatic instances.
The former President says there is a way our community can help.
"You know, just welcome them to the community. Also to encourage employers to go out of their way to hire somebody; I think it's the best gift somebody in Amarillo can give to a veteran. The skill set that these people have are unbelievable," says former President George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States.
The former President was very friendly and a perfect example of a true Texan.
We were able to have him sign a shirt for us that we will be donating to our local Make-A-Wish foundation.
We will be presenting them with the shirt within the next few days.
