New developments in River Road ISD teacher investigation

Amarillo, TX - NewsChannel 10 is learning more about a River Road High School teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.

The Potter County Sheriff's Office has issued six warrants for River Road High School teacher and head JV baseball coach John Bryan's arrest. The Potter County Sheriff's Office tells NewsChannel 10 Bryan may have been having inappropriate relationships with two different girl students at River Road High School.

Initially, River Road ISD tried handling the investigation, itself, then contacted the Potter County Sheriff's Department.

"If you've got something that is that serious, that is an allegation, bring it to us," Sheriff Brian Thomas said. "That's what we do. Nearly anything that we do we're working off of allegations in any way and that's what we do is we go find the truth."

Right now, the Potter County Sheriff's Department is working to locate and arrest Bryan. They say the investigation is ongoing and the family members of the students allegedly having relationships with Bryan have been notified.

If found guilty, Bryan could face a felony offense, punishable by two to 20 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.
