TXDOT is turning to technology to fight trash piling up across the state.
A new app targeting litter bugs is now available for smart phones.
The "Don't Mess With Texas" App allows people to report drivers caught throwing trash out of their cars and onto roads.
The app automatically tracks your location and all you have to do is press a button saying what kind of trash it is.
If you're quick enough, it also gives you the option to enter in the litter bug's license plate number.
That person will then get a letter in the mail telling them they were spotted throwing trash.
The app can even link to your Facebook to tell friends you spotted a litter bug.
We're told TXDOT gets about 1,500 trash complaints a month through their website alone.
