Amarillo, TX -- Dozens of Amarillo families got an early start to their Easter celebrations with a day at the zoo.
The Amarillo Zoo's third annual Easter Egg-Citement event featured games, Easter egg hunts, face-painting, and educational activities for all ages.
Zoo administrators say the benefit extends beyond mere diversion, providing a tangible economic boost to the area, as Visitor Coordinator Mike Boley said,
"It's a great resource for the community, because if we can get folks from I-40 traveling through to stop and spend half a day or maybe stay overnight, and enjoy the zoo and also enjoy the other museums and attractions here in Amarillo, and visit the local restaurants; it just has a really nice economic impact for the community."
Funds raised from special events like this one are used to expand and improve the zoo's facilities.
