CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) — Carlsbad police say they still don't know why a man walked into a Denny's and opened fire killing a waitress.
Police said 34-year-old Rachel Rodriguez died Thursday morning after suffering multiple gunshot wounds as she was working at the restaurant.
Police tell the Carlsbad Current-Argus a man walked up to the counter at the restaurant and shot the mother of three several times.
After shooting the woman, police reported the man shot himself.
Rodriguez died at the scene, and man was transported to Carlsbad Medical Center. He was later flown to another facility.
