Pilot ordered to undergo psychiatric examination

Amarillo, TX - The pilot accused of forcing an emergency landing in Amarillo may soon be undergoing a psychiatric evaluation to see if he can stand trial.

A motion requesting a psychiatric examination on Clayton Osbon was filed Wednesday, to see if he is fit to stand trial.

The exam will also check to see if Osbon was legally insane when he started acting erratically during a flight to Las Vegas from New York, March 27.

According to an affidavit, on the flight, Osbon was yelling things about Jesus, praying, September 11th and terrorists, while banging on the cockpit door.

JetBlue employees and friends of Osbon have said his behavior was out of character.

Osbon is set to make his second court appearance Thursday morning for a detention hearing.
