Former WT Ryan Leaf coach arrested on burglary charges

Amarillo, TX - The investigation continues on a former West Texas A&M University football coach who was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of a dangerous drug and theft.

Ryan Leaf was arrested Friday in his hometown of Great Falls, Montana.

Police in Montana say Leaf reportedly broke into an acquaintance's home to steal prescription medication.  Authorities believe he may have broken into other homes over the past year.

Leaf is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.

This has many people talking about what happened just few years ago in our area.  It was in 2008, when Leaf faced a similar accusation when he was accused of burglarizing a player's home while he was a coach at West Texas A&M.

An investigation revealed that Leaf had obtained nearly 1,000 pain pills from area pharmacies in an eight-month span.

He reached a plea agreement in 2010 that gave him a 10-year probation but the prosecutor in that case says he'll file a motion Monday to have it revoked, which means Leaf could face imprisonment longer than his 10-year probation term.
