Suspects of multiple burglaries under arrest

Amarillo, TX - Two suspects believed to be linked to several burglaries in our area
are behind bars. 

According to the Armstrong County Sheriff's Office, Kathy Ann Newman and Patrick Reinschmidt were initially arrested earlier this week, charged with driving with a suspended license.

While the suspects were being booked, Newman was seen wearing jewelry, which appeared to be jewelry stolen during a recent burglary. She later admitted to entering a rural home in Armstrong County and taking those items.

Authorities believe the suspects are involved in a number of burglaries or attempted burglaries in rural Armstrong, Potter and Randall counties.

    One person is dead and another is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning. Around 1:50 a.m., Amarillo Police officers were called to the 2600 block of East Amarillo Blvd. on a motor vehicle striking two pedestrians and then fleeing the scene. Lucila Trevino, 58 from Friona, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jose Grado, 43 from Friona, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
