The United Way allocates almost $6 Million

NewsChannel 10

Amarillo, Texas - Dozens of area programs aiming to help children, low income families, and the elderly, are getting a major financial boost from the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon.

The organization raised more money than ever this year, $5.8 million to be exact.

That huge chunk of change is being split up between 38 area programs to achieve the organization's goals of building financial stability, preparing children to succeed, and caring for people in crisis.

The funding will also jump start a new initiative to provide elementary school children in low income families with skills for jobs and education after high school.

The funds will also help the United Way continue their 2-1-1 Texas and 79107 Community Youth Development services.
