Texas police warn against texting prank

Posted: Updated:

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Fort Worth police are asking people not to partake in a prank in which they text a random phone number, saying they have hidden a body.

Police officials said Thursday they have received four calls from residents reporting they have received such texts.

The idea has apparently been making the rounds on Twitter and the website Pinterest.

The prank is to send a text that says: "I hid the body ... Now what?" to a random phone number.

Police say they will file charges against anyone caught making such false claims through texts.

Last week, a northwest Arkansas teenager got into trouble after she sent such a text to a stranger, who turned out to be a police detective. The girl was released with a warning.
