Amarillo, TX - City and state offices will be able to make more repairs on area streets because of the mild winter.
TxDOT has saved about a million dollars this winter, since they have not had to use supplies and crews to clear roads of ice and snow.
TxDOT says not having to spend maintenance money to send crews around the state to clean up wintry roads will allow them to make needed repairs to roads being damaged in other parts of the panhandle.
"We can take that savings and we can put that in areas where we really need it as far as what we call, pennies to the pavement. We can beef up some of those fm roads that are being torn up with the oil field traffic," said Paul Braun with TxDOT.
Because it is still early in the year, the chance of snow remains for our area.
