Texas - The Texas Department of Public Safety is now looking to Facebook as a new crime fighting tool. DPS has launched a new page on the social media giant that will feature the state's most wanted and dangerous fugitives and sex offenders.
State Troopers say the page will reach a new audience and help generate more tips and information for their investigators. Users will be able to remain anonymous and they can also be eligible for cash rewards as high as $20,000 dollars.
To submit a Facebook tip to DPS you can click on the "Submit a Tip" link (under the "About Section) to provide the anonymous information. Users who "like" the page will get updates on dangerous gang members, sex offenders and other fugitives from justice that the state would like to see behind bars.
To "like" the new Facebook page you can go to: http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted You can also call DPS Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) The state will also take you tip via text message.
To do so simply text the letters DPS followed by your tip to 274637 or (CRIMES) from your cell phone. All calls, texts and Facebook tipsters will be given a tip number. You do not have to give your name.
