Pampa, TX - A Pampa Xcel worker is recovering after being shot while turning off a resident's power.

Police say the Xcel worker was at a home on the 200 block of Craven shutting down the power because of a lack of payment, when Alfonso Albear shot him.

The worker told police, after he shut the power off, Albear came outside with a rifle and told him to turn it back on.

The Xcel employee turned the power back on and was walking back to his car, when he heard a gun shot.

"When they (police) got on scene they tried to get the subject to come out, after a few attempts we actually went in and got the suspect and transported him," said Stormy McCullar with the Pampa Police Department.

The Gray County Sheriff's office says Albear is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

We are told the victim was struck but did not receive life threatening injuries.
