Free colonoscopy vouchers given away at cancer run

Amarillo, TX - An expensive, but vital, procedure for catching colon cancer was given away for free to several people in Amarillo today.

The first-annual Mary Elizabeth Archer Colon Cancer Challenge Run made it all possible.  The event had runners and walkers trekking through the Medi Park and Ninth Street area in support of survivors and victims affected by this disease.

"It's nice to see all the blue in support of colon cancer awareness. Hope it'll get people to get screenings, and hopefully beat the disease," cancer survivor Darcie Mislow said.

But those screenings aren't cheap, which is why five free colonoscopy vouchers were drawn for every 100 runners.  Winners under 50 were able to donate their vouchers to anyone meeting the criteria.
