Clovis, New Mexico - There will now be severe restrictions on open fires in Curry County.

Commissioners voted to implement a fire danger emergency resolution.

It was approved on Tuesday after forecasters predicted the drought to last another three months.

The fire ban is expected to become effective immediately and contains limited exceptions for agriculture, such as controlled burns, under certain conditions.
