New Mexico governor signs new hay bill

New Mexico - Governor Susana Martinez has signed a bill that will provide special permits for hay haulers.

Current law only allows for the transport over oversized hay loads on national highways but not state roads. This bill will open up to the New Mexico state roadways.

Farmers and ranchers have been struggling with feeding livestock with the recent drought. Hay supplies have been scarce in the region and also here in the panhandle.
