Marco Morales sentenced to 24 years in prison for sexual assault of a child

Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man who sexually assaulted a young girl is sentenced in court Friday.

The 47th District Attorney's office says Marco Antonio Morales was sentenced to 24 years in prison, and must serve at least half of that before he is eligible for parole.

He was found guilty on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of child Thursday in his jury trial, which began Monday.

The charges stem from an incident in June of 2008. The mother of the victim suspected Morales of the crime and had hidden cameras installed and was able to catch him in the act. That proof was then handed over to the authorities for prosecution.
