Deputies: NM woman 'family loyalty' stabbing

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico woman is facing aggravated battery after authorities say she stabbed her sister over a dispute about family loyalty.

The Farmington Daily Times reports that 22-year-old Nadasha Begay of Bloomfield was arrested Sunday following an argument with her sister, 23-year Nicole Begay.

According to police records, deputies say the sisters were arguing about family loyalty or money when Nadasha stabbed her sister in the neck.

Authorities said Nicole suffered a punctured lung and underwent a CT scan. A hospital spokeswoman said she remains in good condition at San Juan Regional Medical Center.

Nadasha Begay faces charges of third-degree felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a peace officer and resisting and obstructing an officer.

It was unclear if she had an attorney.
