Clovis, NM - A Clovis man is sentenced to spend the next nine years behind bars, after being found guilty of attempted murder.

District Attorney Matthew Chandler says 32-year-old James Gilbert was given the maximum time for attempted murder in New Mexico.

This comes after an October 2010 incident, where Gilbert entered a Curry County home and stabbed a woman at least 15 times.

He is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
