Police standoff suspect in custody

Amarillo, TX - The suspect involved in a SWAT standoff is now identified. Police say 31-year-old Brandon Albritton is in custody.

He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant.

Police say Albritton pointed a gun at an officer from a second story window at the Super 8 Motel.

The officer is not identified, he has been placed on administrative leave.

The Special Crime Unit is investigating.

Amarillo, TX - Amarillo police are continuing negotiations with a man they say has barricaded himself in a room at the Super 8 Motel.

The SWAT team was reportedly at the hotel looking for another man when the incident began.

They were told there were weapons in the room.

Police went up to the room where they found another man. Police say he complied with officers for awhile then slammed a door on them.

He then either dropped or threw a rifle out of a second story window.

The man then pointed a pistol towards an officer, who then fired a shot, according to police.

It is unknown at this time if the man was shot.

Police say he is speaking with negotiators and they are working to resolve the situation.

The Special Crimes Unit is investigating the officer involved shooting.
