Semi-truck, train accident in Hereford

Hereford, TX - A semi-truck driver can consider himself lucky after jumping from his rig just seconds before a train plowed into it.

BNSF Railway officials say the train was going around 60 miles per hour when it struck. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

"The truck split away from the trailer and the truck was on the other side of the track. " Hereford Fire Marshall Dean Turney said. "We located the driver. He had gotten out of the truck before the wreck happened. He was okay."

The railroad crossing was shut down for a few hours but reopened around 1:30 p.m. There is no word on why the semi got stuck. The investigation is ongoing.
