HIV-positive man allegedly bites care worker

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico man that authorities say is HIV positive is behind bars after he allegedly bit a nurse-tech at Albuquerque's Lovelace Medical Center.

Police tell KOB-TV that Alex Marquez attacked the woman as she was giving him medication. Officers say Marquez also punched the woman in the face. Marquez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery to a health care worker.

The medical center says it has a procedure in place anytime an employee is exposed to a pathogen such as HIV.
