Man struck and killed by BNSF train

Posted: Updated:

HEDLEY, Texas - A Donley County worker was killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a train.

According to BNSF, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. off US HWY 287 and County Road 23 in the City of Hedley.

Donley County Sheriff Butch Blackburn says the man was dragged about a quarter of a mile and killed him instantly.

We're told his body will be taken to Lubbock for an autopsy.

No word yet on what the county employee might have been doing on the railroad tracks.

You may recall, a BNSF employee was killed earlier this month while operating near the railroad tracks here in Amarillo.

We are expecting to hear more about the incident from BNSF in the coming days.
