Burn bans mean no New Year's Eve fireworks

Amarillo, Texas - Despite the fact the snow just melted away a few days ago, a reminder that the vast majority of the Texas panhandle is still under a burn ban.

That means no fire works  to ring in 2012 for most of you. The Texas Forest Service all but six counties in the Panhandle are under a burn ban.

The six without bans are Sherman, Hansford, Gray, Wheeler, Donley and Swisher.

Across the state, 116 counties have burn bans in place.
