AMARILLO, TX - Time is ticking for students attending college this spring to get the bacterial meningitis vaccine.
Earlier this year, Texas lawmakers declared that all students entering college for the first time or students transferring colleges must show proof of vaccination.
Already several area pharmacies are seeing shortages of the vaccine.
Amarillo College currently requires all students to provide the proper vaccination paperwork by Jan. 7 in order to enroll in courses for the spring.
The shot can run students up to $150 without insurance or proof of income requirements.
Many colleges across the state will require students to have paperwork on file a week prior to the spring semester start date.
