TxDOT collects 5,300lbs of food for High Plains Food Bank

Amarillo, TX -- After battling winter snow storms for the past several weeks, Texas Department of Transportation employees relaxed with some friendly competition to benefit the High Plains Food Bank.

TxDOT workers have been collecting food from across the district for their second "Fill a Truck; Feed a Family" food drive.

Their goal was to raise 1,000 pounds of food, and the final tally was 5,300 pounds.

The High Plains Food Bank distributes about 650,000 pounds of food to 29 Texas counties every month.
