Icy conditions cause two fatal wrecks on I-40

Amarillo, Texas - A rollover on I-40 has left a Pantex firefighter dead.

Officials say 35-year-old Jody Baker was the passenger in a Ford pickup heading east on the 1912 overpass around 7:45 Sunday morning.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle lost control because of icy conditions, causing the vehicle to roll down the overpass embankment.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Icy conditions were also responsible for another fatal wreck on I-40 Sunday.

The driver of a Mazda pickup lost control of the vehicle in Carson County near the Gray County line. The passenger, Harold Tyler of Albertville, Alabama was killed.
