Amarillo, TX - An area family who has given so much to the community was presented with a home today.
Well the last thirty minutes have been filled with tears of joy and happiness.
The Alcazar family just received keys to their home and had a blessing ceremony.
This has been a community effort, twelve local churches helped Habitat for Humanity construct and fund the home.
The Alcazar family waited for a year, putting in nearly 500 community service hours in order to get their home.
"They also have to be willing to partner with us and what that means is they do their sweat equity, which is working on other people's homes, working on their own home and taking education classes," says Becky Davis, Habitat for Humanity.
They don't just give the individual in the program the home, they give them the skills they need to maintain it.
Habitat for Humanity helps between four to six families in need each year.
The Alcazar family says they are lucky to have been selected and have their dream come true.
