Amarillo, Texas - It's a sad reality but hundreds of children in our area are homeless and not all of them are being taken care of.
Faith City Ministries is currently caring for 21 children and 26 adults.
Just a few years ago, the center hardly saw any children.
It's a shocking trend and within the past 6 months, they've seen the number of children coming in almost double.
When families come to the Faith City Ministry 30-day program, children are enrolled with Amarillo ISD.
Transportation is also set up to take them to and from school.
The children are provided with donated cloths, hygiene products and medicine.
However, there are still items that are needed.
"We need new undergarments, socks and shoes especially because what they come in wearing is pitiful," Executive Director of Faith City Ministries Jena Taylor said. "We also would like more coats. I'm amazed at how little they have on."
It was just announced that Texas is ranked the 38th state with the most homeless children with over 130,000 on the streets across the state.
