ODESSA, Texas (AP) - Two women have pleaded guilty and received long prison terms for their roles in the brutal slaying of a West Texas man in 2008.
22-year-old Heather Mitchell received a 50-year prison term Friday after reaching a plea deal on a murder charge. 23-year-old Kathleen Newbury was given 30 years on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity for murder.
Derek Elms and Willie Hurst were previously sentenced to life without parole in the killing of Robert Thornhill Jr.
The Odessa American reported that Mitchell testified at Hurst's trial that she lured Thornhill, an ex-boyfriend, to a robbery attempt by promising to sleep with him.
