Texan, 81, shoots at burglars, she later dies

HOUSTON (AP) - Police say an 81-year-old Houston-area woman has died of an apparent heart attack after shooting a gun and scaring off two burglars.

KHOU-TV  reports Memorial Villages police believe a man and a woman had posed as utility workers and talked the homeowner into opening her door to them.

Police Chief Haril Walpole says the homeowner became suspicious and pulled her gun, firing twice. The suspects fled.

Walpole says the woman called 911 and police arrived before she collapsed and was transported to a hospital, where she died.

The name of the woman who died Wednesday wasn't immediately released.
