Canyon, TX - Charges have been filed in a 13-year-old cold case out of Canyon.

After 13-years of investigating, officials have charged a Canyon man in connection with the disappearance of a 17-year old.

Fred Moseley was reported missing in July of 1998,  his car was found abandoned just south of Canyon.

His body has never been found but investigators say they are now able to connect 34-year old Gerald Ross Dooley to the crime.

Randall County District Attorney James Farren says Canyon police interviewed Dooley, who then led them to key pieces of evidence.

"At the conclusion of these interviews, with the suspect and the recovery of some physical evidence, we believe there is some sufficient evidence at this time to file charges against Mr. Dooley and we anticipate charges against at least one other individual who is currently at large, has not been apprehended," said Farren.

Dooley is charged with capital murder, but investigators are waiting to show the case to the Grand Jury until the second suspect, allegedly involved in the case, is arrested.

Farren adds it is undecided whether they will seek the death penalty in this case.
