Logan NM school locked down, starter pistol found

Logan, New Mexico - A school lockdown at a Logan New Mexico school has been lifted after the weapon found was a starter pistol.

The Logan Chief of Police Bob Gore says it happened around 9:00 Wednesday morning when a student was seen putting a pistol into his waistband by a teacher. Upon investigation, the weapon was found to be a starter pistol that is used at track meets.

Gore says the pistol was stolen from a coaches office at the school. He adds, the case has been turned over to the juvenile probation office for possible prosecution. The student could face a charge of Larceny for the theft, and it is unknown if he will face charges for having the starter pistol on school property.
