Cops: NM teacher duct-taped students' mouths

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque third-grade teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after school police said she duct-taped the mouths of 2 students to keep them quiet.

KRQE-TV reports that Albuquerque Public Schools officials said Thursday that the teacher hasn't been charged with anything, but that the district removed her from the classroom because the allegations.

Students the third grade class at Mark Twain Elementary also went home with a letter that said the teacher was being investigated for "alleged employee misconduct."

A substitute teacher has taken over the class until the investigation is finished.

APS said this is the teacher's first year with her own class.
