Joining NewsChannel 10 & Telemundo Amarillo as a bilingual reporter in August 2011, Jessica Abuchaibe came with the priority of making the voices of the community heard as well as communicating important information that impacts, affects, or even helps the people in the Texas Panhandle.
Abuchaibe came from NewsChannel 6, the CBS affiliate in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she worked as a general assignment reporter covering everything from fires to shootings, robberies, economic growth, and even new cancer drug medical discoveries. Jessica also anchored news and weather updates for Telemundo while she was there. Prior to that she worked at WSVN 7 News, the Fox affiliate in Miami, Florida, in the production crew of the News Operations Department.
Jessica has also gained her television experience at the national level where she interned at MTV Networks working in departments such as Music, Talent & Artist Relations, Castings, and even Show Programming. Graduating from the University of Miami with honors, she received her Bachelor's in communications, double majoring in broadcast journalism and psychology with a Minor in dance. While Jessica was there, she also created, launched, produced, and hosted the University of Miami's first musical talent show "Musical Expression", which was broadcast via Comcast Channel 96.
Born in Miami, Florida and also raised in Elmhurst, Illinois, from Colombian and Arabic descent, Abuchaibe is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian. She studied abroad at the American Institute for Foreign Study in Rome, Italy. Aside from traveling extensively around the world, Jessica loves culture, art, music, politics, singing, working out, and investigative reporting. She loves being involved with the community and is already a part of Amarillo Young Professionals.
