Canyon, TX - With the ten year anniversary of 9/11 just days away, many are wondering where the threat stands now.
Security is being increased as U.S. officials warn of a credible threat to both the Washington D.C. and New York City areas.
Local terrorism expert Doctor Harry Hueston, says even though ten years have passed and al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead, there is still a commitment from those with radical beliefs to kill Americans.
"His death is just one of many, that have occurred prior to and will continue to occur, the individuals are absolutely committed to kill themselves, that is a commitment that they have and it's not going to go away, it simply isn't going to go away and that's the reality of terrorism," says Hueston.
Hueston and many U.S. officials are saying to be vigilant throughout the weekend and to report any suspicious or dangerous activity to police.
